During the Spring and Fall, Thorne’s Field Trip Program enables youth to visit Sombrero Marsh and participate in hands-on, outdoor exploration that connects kids to nature in engaging and memorable ways. Thorne offers a 2nd grade field trip program that enhances classroom learning for Boulder Valley School District students at Sombrero Marsh in Boulder and for St. Vrain Valley School District students at Sandstone Ranch in Longmont. In addition, Thorne also offers customizable field trips for schools and youth organizations at both the Boulder and Littleton locations.
The 2nd grade field trips to Sombrero Marsh are a unique partnership between Thorne Nature Experience, Boulder Valley School District, and the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks. Through this partnership, 2nd grade BVSD classrooms are offered one FREE field trip per school year, including busing, to visit Sombrero Marsh. The field trip curriculum is correlated to School District Standards in Science and is approved by BVSD.
