Overview:
Learning will focus on two primary things.
1- Improvisational skills
2- performance (this includes the basics of stage direction and vocal projection).
Improvisation
Improvisation exercises will let kids use their listening and observation skills to respond to made-up circumstances.
Here’s an example: I pair up two students, and provide them with a few basic made-up facts: Their relationship to one another (ie: Teacher and student, brother and sister, store clerk and customer, etc.), a location, a circumstance (ie: A brother is playing a video game and shouting in response to everything that happens during the game. The sister is trying to do her homework. Their mom is trying to nap in the next room). With only this information, the scene begins!
Performance
Students will create a short play (possibly with a musical component) based on what we get from improv exercises. We will write a script together, and I will direct some simple staging. The kids will either memorize their lines or prepare for a “staged reading,” depending on the class size, age group, and the play that they create.

MAKEUP WEEK: Week of 3/9
- Registration and payment must be submitted and paid by 1/7/20. Minimum enrollment is 5 participants.
- Registration is on a “first-come, first-served” basis. There is 4 participant minimum for each club run.
- We hope to accommodate all students registered, but there is a maximum enrollment size for each club.
- Registration is available online through
www.communityday.org.
- To register, click on Club Registration link on the left-hand menu.
- The email address you provide through the website during registration is the address that will be used for all club related emails.
- If the minimum number for enrollment is not met, a club may be canceled. In this case, you may select an alternative club, or request a refund.
- Once clubs have been finalized, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
- Once registered, should you decide to withdraw from the club prior to the start date, you will be refunded 75% of registration payment.
- Please note that no refunds will be issued after a club session has started.
