New Orleans East Youth Ambassadors internship application
"Our Own Stewards: Documenting Brownfields and Community Perspectives in New Orleans East"

From September through November, you'll have the incredible opportunity to be a part of a meaningful project that focuses specifically on New Orleans East, a community that's been overlooked since Hurricane Katrina. As a youth participant, you and your teammates will conduct an inventory of brownfield sites—areas that have been neglected and can pose risks for heat and flooding.

Using FLIR heat cameras, you'll collect important data on urban heat conditions, and you'll have the chance to interview residents to hear their stories and concerns about these sites. By engaging with your community, you’ll develop essential skills in data collection, media creation/editing, and community activism.

This project isn’t just about gathering information; it’s about becoming a steward of your community and using storytelling to advocate for change. Together, we can shine a light on the challenges facing New Orleans East and work towards a brighter future!
