Event Rules
Content
-This is a general public event. Artwork containing nudity, profanity, lewd images, graphic violence, gore, political statements, commercial advertising (intended or otherwise) or content deemed inappropriate by NHCC will be removed and the artist will be disqualified from the contest. All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing by all ages.
-Artist(s) may sign their work using chalk.
-Organizers are not responsible for damage or defacing of artwork.

Teams
-Teams may include up to 4 individuals
- Contest is open to all. NHCC does not discriminate on any basis.
-NHCC employees and immediate family, as well as contest judges and immediate family of judges, are not eligible for prizes. Any group that includes an NHCC employee or immediate family member, or contest judge’s immediate family member, will also not be awarded a prize.
- Groups who participate on one square will be awarded the prize as a group and are responsible for splitting the prize

Chalking spaces
-Each team will select a chalking space from those designated for the contest. Artists may select a space when they register the day of the competition on a first come, first served basis.
-Some spaces may have cracks or texture variations
-Spaces are transferrable.
-Artwork must remain within the designated space. Drawings on buildings, trees, or any other surface are strictly prohibited. Your design must fit within the designated space.

Check-In and Registration
-Pre-registration can be done prior to the event through NHCC’s website, but teams must check in the morning of the competition.
-Day-of registration and check-in location is listed on the NHCC website.
-Registration is required to be considered for prizes.
-Artists may prepare spaces as early as 8 a.m. but cannot begin chalking until 9 a.m.

Material Restrictions
Participants may bring their own chalk, brushes or water. All chalk or chalk paints must be water-based. ONLY artist made templates are permissible. Use of any disallowed material will subject the participant to a clean-up fee by the city of Marshall/SMSU/etc.
- Only non-oil based washable chalk may be in your design. No acrylic paints, liquid pastels, oil-based pastels, hard pastels, etc. will be allowed.
-Non-toxic chalk only –all rainwater/wash water flows to our beautiful waterways – help us protect our natural resources.

Photo and Video Release
Digital photos will be taken, NHCC reserves the right to use photographs for marketing, promotion and publicity purposes.
