Our tax preparation services are closed until February of 2026. At that time, we will be focused on preparing returns for tax years 2025 and 2022. Starting in March of 2026 we will be able to prepare years 2020 to 2025.

Community Tax Aid serves individuals and families whose income is less than $67,000 and whose income is within the scope of training provided to our volunteers.

Through our in-person and virtual services, we can prepare returns for tax years 2019 to 2024. We have limited in-person appointments as well as an option to connect virtually.

If you only need to file for 2024, there is also an option to prepare and efile your own federal and state tax returns for free.

If the IRS has contacted you about filing a return, or you need help with a federal tax debt, we can help file the returns, but we also recommend that you contact a Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) before entering into any payment arrangement with the IRS. 2024 return free self-preparation options

For 2024 returns, you have the option to prepare your own returns and efile for free.

Maryland residents needing to prepare and file their 2024 federal and Maryland return can take advantage of IRS and Maryland Direct File. Click here for more information.

Virtual option will reopen February 2026.

Virtual volunteers will be available starting 2026.

This service is appropriate for you if you are able to upload documents from your computer or phone and to communicate with the volunteers via text or email as well as by phone.

For both in-person and virtual assistance we will need to see ITIN letters or Social Security Cards or Social Security statements for every person to be claimed on the tax return (unless a person is applying for an ITIN).
