8th grade overnight trip: June 10 & 11, 2019
Germantown Friends School is delighted to be sending 8th grade students on their annual adventure at Pine Forest Camp in Greeley, PA. This trip is made possible thanks to the generosity of Pine Forest Camp owners and current parents Anna Black Morin '01 and her husband Eric Morin and family, Barbara & Mickey Black and Lee Black '04. The family has been sponsoring the camping trip since 1997 when Anna and Lee were GFS students. We are grateful to the entire family for this tremendous gift. This trip has now become a traditional part of the end of the year bonding experience for the 8th grade and is an integral part of the end of the year program for the class, which also consists of exams and the formal Final Meeting for Worship in which the 8th grade will be honored as it graduates from the Middle School. This year, the class will leave on the trip on Monday, June 10 at 8:45 AM and return to campus on Tuesday, June 11 in time for 3:10 PM dismissal.

Please note that since your child will be carrying bulky equipment, you should make arrangements to drop off your child on the morning of Monday, June 10 at the usual time of 8:10 am since the GFS and public buses do not have sufficient room for bulky equipment. For the same reason, please also note that you will need to make arrangements to pick up your child on campus on Tuesday, June 11. As is tradition, classes are canceled on Wednesday, June 12 for 8th grade students, and 8th graders should not come to campus.

The cost of the trip covers food, transportation, and special programming at the camp, and is covered by the annual activity fee, billed to you earlier in the school year.
