Ways to volunteer with GCDC:
1. MUN Mentors are volunteers who are paired with GCDC classrooms (ranging from 6th-12th grade). Teachers may ask mentors to help with different GCDC components including: explaining Model UN procedure and research, guiding Model UN mini simulations, or speaking with the students about their personal experiences with MUN or international studies. The GCDC team is available to support volunteers with resources and ideas. Most teachers are looking for a volunteer to visit their class 1-3 times leading up to the Global Classrooms Spring Conference.
2. If you have never participated in Model UN and would like to visit the classroom you can volunteer by sharing your travel experiences, and professional knowledge with our students. Past speakers have talked about their time working overseas, experience in governmental or UN agencies, provided informational sessions on the UN Global Goals, and presentations on the UN and UNA-NCA.
3. Conference support: volunteer for our Model UN Conferences as a policy adviser, Model UN chair, or logistical support. Please note that Spring 2017 volunteers will be asked to fill out a separate form closer to the date. But we encourage you to fill out this form to notify us of interest. For more information on these roles and any questions please contact Kristen Cherigate at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Global Classrooms DC office at 202.223.6092
