Language Learning Plus - Learning mobility for intercultural and multilingual competences
Learning or improving competences in another language is one of the most tangible results of mobility, especially in long-term experiences. At the same time, learning periods abroad that integrate non-formal education methods and immersion in the host culture allow for much more than language learning: they offer the opportunity to develop cultural awareness, appreciation of diversity, curiosity, and intercultural communication skills.

The debate will explore the role that learning mobility plays in the development of intercultural and multilingual competences, from a lifelong learning perspective.

With the contribution of key policy-makers and experts, we will discuss about how recent EU initiatives (like the “Proposal for a Council Recommendations on a comprehensive approach to the teaching and learning of languages”, the new “Key Competences Framework”, and the future “Erasmus+ Programme”) can provide an ideal framework for boosting language learning via mobility. By involving practitioners, we will also exchange views and good-practices on how to create meaningful and strong connections between language and intercultural competences.
