We are looking for volunteers of all ages and cultural backgrounds who are interested in becoming an EMAC member to support our programs, campaigns, and events! Volunteers will gain work experience, learn about local issues, and build a network of community care.
Empowering Marginalized Asian Communities (EMAC) is a community-based organization whose mission is to help build safe and thriving Southeast Asian communities within the larger Asian American and Pacific Islander diaspora. We seek to fulfill this mission through community advocacy and civic engagement, providing culturally relevant resources, and cultivating the development of social empowerment through the expression of our values: transformative justice, culturally rooted healing, communal resilience, and collective liberation.
What you can expect volunteering as an EMAC member:
- Attend once a month membership meetings and events from March to August 2025.
- Become part of an organized network in Stockton, San Joaquin County, and the greater Northern California-Central Valley region.
- Make friends while building community power within Southeast Asian, Pacific Islander and other historically marginalized communities.
- Receive political education on community organizing, transformative justice, anti-deportation activism, and more.
- Mobilize around local and state-wide campaigns to protect community members who are impacted by mass incarceration and deportation.
- Outreach at community events and connect with other organizations and leaders.
- Assist with fundraising to sustain the programs and services provided by EMAC.
- Earn community service hours for school and/or build your resume for future employment.

- Application Window: January 31st - February 7th
- Interviews: February 11th - February 18th
- Notify Acceptance: Wednesday, February 26th
- Orientation & Welcome Party: Friday, March 7th
