Volunteer recruitment form
The MarCo Urban Agriculture working group is recruiting volunteers to conduct a baseline census in Maricopa County. The purpose of the baseline census is to initiate/motivate organizations, institutions, companies, universities, governments, and producers across Maricopa county to participate to develop data-based actionable solutions for the food systems of tomorrow for a more nourishing and equitable food future in the county and state.
This project is necessary as the level of awareness of the food system by the public as well as by regulatory and legislative bodies is very limited to bring about the needed transformation of the system. As a result of the census, there will be data and information for creating media and educational tools to encourage cultural and behavioral change. The result of the census will also inspire the development and implementation of new policies that promote local food development and highlight the role of subsidies and incentives to ignite families and small groups to go into farming for local food development.
We are looking for volunteers with all levels of experience and expertise to work together to accomplish the goals and timeline we have set for this project. If you are interested in improving the Maricopa County Food System, desire professional development, and have a few hours a month to spare, we encourage you to fill out this form!
