The intent of the self assessment is to assist problem solving courts in the evaluation of the extent to which they have embraced best-practices and maintained practices in keeping with the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts Standards.  The programs should consider their strengths as well as areas in which further training or coaching could assist the program in improving outcomes.  The results of this assessment should assist you in the identification of areas for growth and monitor consistent application of best practices.

5.1 PSC Judge
Attend training on legal and constitutional issues in the last 2-3 years. *
Attend training on ethics in the last 2-3 years. *

Attend annual conferences and workshops on best practices in PSC in the last 2-3 years. *
PSC Judge serves for no less than two consecutive years. *
Participants appear before Judge on a graduated time frame based on phase. Judge regularly attends staffing. *
Judge spends 3-7 minutes with each participant during PSC. *
Judge offers supportive comments and/or incentives to reinforce participant performance. *
Judge imposes sanctions and therapeutic adjustments when appropriate. *
Judge does not delegate judicial decision making responsibilities to members of the drug court team. *
6.1 PSC Team

7.1/7.2 Referral and Entry into the PSC
Individuals referred to the PSC are promptly assessed for eligibility. *
Eligibility decisions are made objectively, personal impressions or subjective views are not utilized to determine eligibility. *
PSC is using only the confidentiality and release forms as approved by the JMHP Committee. *
Participants are not required to waive any rights as a condition of entry.   *
Entry into the PSC is on the record and in open court.   *
7.3 Confidentiality
PSC files are kept separate and distinct from all other court files and are not open to the public. *
PSC complies with all applicable federal and state confidentiality laws. *
PSC utilizes proper procedures and consent forms. *
PSC disclosure is limited to the information necessary to communicate progress. *
