Building on the "In a World of Systems": Your Feedback, Please

We embarked last summer on the task of developing a simple, everyday story to create curiosity about "systems" and systems thinking. We envision the video and its supporting materials will be helpful to a range of audiences, but in particular, to young adults -- seniors in high school, college students and people in their first job. This is a critical age, when people have a clearer sense of the problems and when a systems perspective might help problem-solve and take action in a more open and effective way.

Now that the video is complete, we are beginning to scope out a complementary learning experience which will be online and downloadable. We envision a "sandwich" structure, where we would first provide the rationale for a systems approach (to life or to changing the world). This may be done through a podcast, meaningful reading, prezi, or brief slide show. The mid part of the "sandwich" will be In a World of Systems video, and the bottom part will be a unit that contains case studies, interviews, exploration questions, and links to other resources. YOUR IDEAS ON THE DESIGN OF THIS LEARNING EXPERIENCE ARE REALLY APPRECIATED! Linda Booth Sweeney and Marta Ceroni
