Spring 2020 Highwood Tree Planting Project - Sign Up for a Tree!
The City of Highwood and the Chicago Region Trees Initiative are collaborating together through a Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Grant to plant trees in Highwood next spring.
We're excited to connect with you to plant trees to boost species diversity, increase canopy coverage, and improve the health of Highwood through the many benefits trees provide.
It’s free to participate - we will provide the trees, supplies, and lead the planting. Highland High School student volunteers will also participate to help plant the trees.
All you need to do is commit to watering the new tree in front of your home between May and October for the next three years. Ten gallons (two 5-gallon buckets) of water per week will help each young tree survive and thrive. In turn, these trees will provide shade and other important benefits for your neighborhood for decades to come.
