The Alliance to Save Energy will:
1. Support EmPowered Schools teachers to provide high-quality, inquiry-based learning for
their students in the following ways:
a. Conduct a Professional Development Workshop that orients teams to the program and helps
them begin planning activities.
b. Host Mid-Year and End-of-Year meetings (approximately 1.5 hours each) to share successes,
discuss and resolve challenges, and continue planning.
c. Provide an annual stipend of $200 for each school team. If schools have more than one team
lead participant, stipends will be shared. Stipends will be paid in two equal installments (at the
Professional Development Workshop and at the end of the school year assuming full program
completion).
d. Provide a Local Project Leader (an Alliance staff member) to support participating schools
through site visits and availability via telephone/video conferencing and email.
e. Provide access to the EmPowered Schools website, which contains all the video lessons,
quizzes, and follow-up activity resources in a user-friendly interface.
Schools will also receive diagnostic toolkits, EmPowered Schools t-shirts, a system for tracking
energy use data, and other resource materials.
f. Support custodians and facilities staff to work with teachers and students to identify and
implement changes in school facilities that will save energy while improving
comfort.
2. Foster communication and collaboration among participating teachers and students.
3. Coordinate with aligned resources and programs to support student learning.
