CS KickStart's mission is to encourage more women to study computer science. The CS KickStart program gives around 26 newcomers to the field an opportunity to receive training and explore computer science for free before starting fall classes. In addition to learning how to program, students will also meet people in industry and academia who do cool things with computer science, and build a community that will last throughout their time at the University of Michigan.
There is no experience necessary to attend CS KickStart, and attending is not a commitment to major in computer science. For more information about our program, please visit our website: http://cskickstart.eecs.umich.edu
CS KickStart's program takes place August 26th - August 31st (The week before fall classes begin.)
This application is due by June 30th. We will email decisions by the last week of July.
There are three essay questions in the last section, <300 words each. Please make sure you see the confirmation page at the end of the application to ensure that it has been submitted!
After you submit the application, please email your unofficial transcript to firstname.lastname@example.org as a PDF file named "<uniqname>.pdf" (for example, "jsmith.pdf") with the subject line "<Lastname> CS KickStart Application" (for example "Smith CS KickStart Application"). You do not need to include your second-semester senior grades. If you have any questions about this process, please email us at email@example.com.
Note: If you are in a living learning community (ex: MRADS, WISE etc), an international student, or in the Marching Band, it is highly likely that you will be unable to be a part of CS KickStart due to the time conflicts. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
