Psyche collector interest registration
Project Psyche aims to generate chromosome-level reference genomes for all European Lepidoptera. In the first phase (2023-2025), hubs will contribute samples and sequencing will be performed at the Sanger. In a second phase, starting in 2025, we are hoping to expand the sampling and sequencing to other research groups and places. If you would like to contribute samples, please fill out this form.

Please note, that we can only accept samples with valid collection permits that allow for sequencing at the Sanger. Ideally, we prefer 1-3 adult females per species that are flash-frozen and since have been stored at -70/80. We can provide barcoded FluidX tubes for new collections, but we can also work with samples in other tubes if they are already collected and stored in the -80°C freezer.

Data protection note: If you elect to give us your personal information (name, email address and institution) we will ONLY use it to contact you about collections as well as send a link to the google group. We will also use summarise your institution and country information simply to assess the reach of collections for Psyche. This is a Google form and thus the data will be stored on Google servers, likely outside your nation's jurisdiction. We will not share the list with third parties.

If you have any questions do email Charlotte Wright (charlotte.wright@sanger.ac.uk), Mark Blaxter (mark.blaxter@sanger.ac.uk), or Joana Meier (joana.meier@sanger.ac.uk).

If you have an affiliation, would you be collecting as part of your affiliation or as a private individual?
What taxonomic group and/or geographic area do you focus on/have expertise with?
Have you already collected samples you would like to contribute? If yes, please tell us how many and what kind of samples they are (taxonomic / geographic spread).
Do you plan to collect samples in the future? If yes, please tell us about your plans. Particularly, which taxonomic groups / geographic areas and how many samples and species you plan to collect and approximately when.
Will you be able to dissect and process samples according to the Psyche protocol, including storage at -80? Do you foresee any challenges you would like to tell us about (e.g. lack of -80°C freezer, species identification issues, etc)?
