The Northport High School Early Childhood Education Program will have a lottery for the 10 openings for the 3-Year Old Early Childhood Education Program for the 2024-2025 academic school year.

The Criteria:
1.  Child must be three years of age on or before December 31, 2024.
2.  Children and their families must be residents of the Northport-East Northport School District.

The Program:
The three-year-old children will work with students from the high school's Family and Consumer Science class studying Early Childhood Education.  The class meets in a specially designed classroom filled with learning tools, age appropriate toys and resources for children ages two through four.  Each 3-year-old will be assigned to work with one high school student each semester.  High school faculty from the Family and Consumer Science Department teach the high school course and guide the instruction for the 3-year-olds, while individual high school students work as "helpers" to each child.  The goal of the Early Childhood Program is to introduce the children to a classroom environment, provide the opportunity for them to learn to separate from their caregivers and interact with their peers while participating in developmentally appropriate activities.  Regular attendance by the 3-year-olds is vital to the success of this program.

Meeting Times and Costs:
This class is scheduled to meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The start date will be the last week in September 2024.  There is no cost for the program.  Parents are responsible for providing transportation for their children.

The Lottery - 3-Year-Old Early Childhood Program Only:
A lottery system will be used and the completed Lottery Application Form is due by 11:59 pm on Friday, July 12, 2024.  Parents will be notified via mail by Friday, July 19, 2024.  Students not selected will be put on a waiting list.
