📌Media Diversity Institute Western Balkans (MDI WB) organises a panel discussion "Media representation of the LGBTQ+ community in the Western Balkans" revolving around the dominant media narratives about the LGBTQ+ people as well as the role of institutions in improving the current state. The panel discussion is held in cooperation with Civil Rights Defenders and Belgrade Pride as a part of the EuroPride 2022. 

🔎MDI WB, as a part of the Reporting Diversity Network 2.0, does the monitoring of the media and hate speech in all of the countries of the Western Balkans and has recently produced the monitoring reports for each of them. The report shows that hate speech in the Balkans usually revolves around women, ethnicity and the LGBTQ+ community. 

At the panel we will gather representatives of the LGBTQ+ organisations as well as media development organisations to discuss the challenges as well as ways forward.
