Nancy K. Poppen Program
Arts Scholarship Application
For Muskegon Public Schools

Application Process and Instructions:

1. Fill out Student Application and Essay sections.
2. Find three adult/teacher references to complete references for you. You must ask them first and then contact Claire Root Benson for a form link to send. One or two of these should be artistic references, like your art teacher, band director, theatre director, etc. The remaining one or two of these should be character references, like a teacher or school counselor or other program administrator. Your family members may NOT fill out a reference for you.
3. After all of the above is submitted by the application deadline, you will be contacted for an interview with Claire Root Benson in the Nancy K. Poppen office (or via Google Meet). You and your parent/guardian must both attend the interview.
a. Be prepared to provide samples of your artwork or writing if you are applying for art or creative writing.
b. If you are applying for a performing art and can provide a video of you performing, please do so.
4. After completion of steps 1-3, the Poppen Programs Board of Directors will review your application and you will be notified of your status, as well as when you may begin to receive funding if you are approved.
