OUR OCEAN BOOTCAMP 2024

ABOUT OUR OCEAN BOOTCAMP 2024

Since 2021, SOA Tanzania has been hosting Ocean Bootcamps aimed at empowering Tanzanian youth to become ocean leaders and changemakers. Over 3 past cohorts, we have trained more than 154 young individuals. Our Ocean Bootcamp 2024 program seeks to further ignite ocean and climate activism among Tanzanian youth, recognizing the critical need for proactive engagement in these areas now more than ever.

Climate change and ocean health are pressing global issues, with profound impacts on ecosystems, economies, and communities. In Tanzania, rising sea levels, ocean acidification, and increased frequency of extreme weather events pose significant threats to coastal areas and livelihoods. Engaging youth in ocean and climate activism is vital for fostering a generation equipped to tackle these challenges.

Youth hold immense potential to drive innovation and advocacy in the ocean and climate space. By involving young people in initiatives that promote sustainable practices and climate resilience, we can harness their creativity and energy to create meaningful change. The Our Ocean Bootcamp 2024 will provide them with the skills and knowledge to lead efforts in conserving marine resources and addressing climate impacts, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future for Tanzania and the world.
