Objective: MDA is thinking holistically about how to balance the need for accelerating conservation efforts with the realities of modern farming. We envision a program that recognizes the value of environmentally engaged farming - applied conservation practices, preserving green space,  participating in valuable on-farm research, contributing to building equitable and resilient food systems, and more. Together we are able to better recognize the efforts of all farmers as we work towards a healthier watershed. Along the way, we hope to foster stronger connections between farmers, conservation partners, our research institutions, and our neighbors.

As the core framework was discussed, MDA's ideas on what, who, and how were presented - the why being that as MDA looks ahead, it remains a priority to ensure that farmers remain economically sustainable, while also meeting environmental goals and continuing to feed our communities.
