The Chalk the Block Contest is held in conjunction with the May 4th CORE at Ellsworth Park.
Event Date: Saturday May 4, 2019
Event Schedule:
10-10:30 am: Artists and art groups check in at Pinal County BOS District 2 Tent
10:30 am - 2:00 pm: Artists will be creating their masterpieces. Individuals at the event are welcome to view them at work. Artists are not required to stay for the entire event. If available we ask you to come back for the awards but it is not required.
2:00 - 2:30: Judging takes place
2:45: Awards given for top 3 artists.
Registration:
No entry fee. Pre-registration is required. Please complete the form below by May 3, 2019. Space is limited and registration will close once capacity is reached.
Artists should bring their own: chalk, design, knee pads, sunscreen, water, camera, pattern, etc.
Cash prizes will be given to the TOP 3 ARTISTS! 1st Place $150, 2nd Place $100, 3rd Place $75
RULES:
- Contest is open to artists and artist groups ages 10 and up!
- Only non oil based washable chalk may be in your design. No acrylic paints, liquid pastels, oil-based pastels, hard pastels, etc will be allowed
- Designs must not exceed beyond the designated sidewalk square. Approximate size is 4'x4'
- Artists may sign their name using chalk
- All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing by all ages; no lewd, graphic violence, gore, nudity.
- No political messages, words, or symbols intended as advertising may appear in the art or space provided
- Photos will be taken and all event organizers of CORE reserve the right to use the photographs for marketing, promotion and publicity purposes
- Organizers have the right to disqualify and/or remove any inappropriate art or writing as they deem necessary.
- Spaces will be assigned after registration is closed
- Official judging based on a 1-5 scale on first impression, creativity, originality, skill, and use of color. Decision of judges are final.
- Organizers are not responsible for damage or defacing of artwork.
In the event of inclement weather an email will be sent to participants in case of cancellation.
