Film for the Future Festival, St Anne's House, 14th December 2024

Join us for an exciting youth-organised film festival exploring nature and climate action at St Anne’s House! 

Featuring: 

  • premiere of short films created by local young people 
  • a screening of documentary ‘Rave on for the Avon’ featuring local activists at Conham River Park
  • Panel discussion between the young filmmakers and ‘Rave on for the Avon’ creatives

Over the past 3 months we have been working with an incredible group of young people to develop short films inspired by nature-connection and the call for climate action. The young people involved have learned about storytelling, devising, camera and audio skills, and much more, in partnership with Screenology and with guest workshops from Bottleyard Studio and Bio-Leadership. Their brilliant films range from documentary to experimental, and from explorations of social isolation and nature disconnection to sustainable transport and what a greener Bristol might look like. 

We are thrilled to invite you to St Anne’s House for a special premiere of the films created by the young people, followed by a screening of Rave on for the Avon (dir:Charlotte Sawyer), a documentary that follows campaigners and river lovers across a year and a half as they fight to protect the river. The film features local activists- Conham River Bathers- who have taken matters into their own hands, testing the water at this much-loved stretch of the Avon and sharing the results with local swimmers.

There will be a panel discussion between creatives involved in the film  and young filmmakers, followed by a Q&A.

We will provide snacks and refreshments (popcorn!), but you are welcome to come earlier to grab some delicious lunch at our community cafe Cibo Matto.
