This hackathon is the hands-on conclusion to the Artificial Intelligence, Animals, and the Law Conference (November 7-8, 2025). After two days of exploring how artificial intelligence intersects with animal law through expert panels on ethics, policy, wildlife crime, legal applications, and environmental impact, we're building actual solutions.
This hackathon pairs legal professionals with technical developers to prototype AI-powered tools that address real problems in animal protection law. Whether it's analyzing case law, detecting wildlife trafficking, monitoring factory farms, modeling policy impacts, or liberating public records - we're turning conference insights into deployable technology.
Who This Is For: Attorneys and law students who understand animal law problems paired with developers who can build AI solutions. Legal expertise + technical skills = tools that can actually protect animals and advance legal reforms.
What We Provide: Technical infrastructure, APIs, datasets, mentorship from conference speakers, and facilitation to help legal/technical teams collaborate effectively.
What You Bring: Either legal domain expertise that identifies high-impact problems, or technical skills that can build solutions. Don't have a partner? We'll match you with a complementary team member. Oh, and please bring a laptop!
Together, we will:
· Solve real world problems based on technical needs submitted by animal protection orgs.
· Utilise the first-ever suite of AI models specifically trained for animal advocacy: Pre-trained & fine-tuned models, along with dedicated cloud compute for each team.
· Deliver expert mentorship & post-hackathon support: Top-performing projects will receive continued support to take your work forward after the hackathon, including connections with funders.
