New Iwi Names and Colours

As one of the final steps in our new build era of our school we want to tie our Iwi into our cultural narrative that has been gifted to us by our Hapū - Ngati Kahu o Torongare. On reflection with our student leaders, our current Iwi names do not hold any existing connection to the cultural narrative of our school.

This marks an opportune time to rename our Iwi in our school to align with our cultural narrative and provide connection between our students, their whakapapa and the community.

Our Hapū - Ngati Kahu o Torongare, has guided us and would like us to name our new Iwi after the different parts of the Waka. We need your help to decide on what names we use, and what colours to use!

Do you think our new iwi names should be named after the structural parts of the waka (the pieces that give the waka its strength), or the symbolic parts (the carvings, eyes and cord that give the waka its meaning) *
If you chose structural, which of the following names do you think would be great as our new iwi names? (choose no more than 3) *
