The Postdoctoral Program Office and the Postdoctoral Society of Argonne are teaming up to offer a series of online career development talks and opportunities for postdocs to share their research with others.
Developing Strategic Communication Skills Through Interview Practice
Utilizing strategies and techniques in effective communication in networking and interviewing settings can build success and reduce stress. In this interactive workshop, participants will learn how to effectively communicate their skills and experiences, draft and practice responses to common interview questions, and consider how to evaluate themselves and improve as strategic communicators.
This workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Bennett Goldberg and Dr. Olivia Chesniak, of the Postdoc Academy. Dr. Goldberg is the Principal Investigator for the Northwestern University Postdoc Academy Team. About the Speakers:
Bennett B Goldberg is the Director of Research in Higher Education, Training and Evaluation and Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Northwestern University, and the recent former Director of the Searle Center for Advancing Learning and Teaching. He received a B.A from Harvard College in 1982, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from Brown University in 1984 and 1987. Following a Bantrell postdoc at MIT, he joined the physics faculty at Boston University in 1989. He joined Northwestern University in August 2016.
Olivia Chesniak is a Postdoctoral Scholar for the Postdoc Academy project at Northwestern University. She earned a BS in Chemistry in 2012 from Lewis University in Romeoville, IL and a PhD in Chemistry in 2019 from Michigan State University. Since March 2019, Olivia has supported the Postdoc Academy through content development, evaluation, and facilitation.
