Registrations close on 2 August and we will select participants by 9 August. Unfortunately we can’t guarantee a place for everyone due to limited spaces, so our team of coaches will make selections based on the information provided.
About Design The City Experiment:A group of people from different companies and organisations across the Western Bay will come together over one week to apply design thinking to benefit the local community; and in so doing develop their own innovation skills and build relationships and connections across sectors.
A team of local design thinking experts and coaches will provide training, support and facilitation; participants gain intensive experience of innovation, working in teams and using design thinking and take on a challenge focused on a major new initiative in Tauranga’s CBD, gaining the collective smarts of people from a range of backgrounds.
a) A design ‘sprint’ of five sessions over five days 27 August to 31 August.b) Sessions run from 6.30am-8.30am each day (except Thursday which is 3.00-5.00pm). c) Each session covering a stage of the DT process • Monday 27 - Understanding the Problem• Tuesday 28 - User Empathy • Wednesday 29 - Ideation• Thursday 30 - Prototyping (this session runs 10am-12pm to allow participants to go to the YiA Innovation Forum- get your tickets at www.yiaforum.co.nz/buy-tickets)• Friday 31 - Testing/Refinementd) Friday 31 August from 4.30-6.30pm - A ‘present back’ conclusion / networking session at Tauranga Art Gallerye) Pre-briefing in the week before, where participants are introduced to the challenge f) We will have at least three experienced design practitioners/coaches at each session, plus logistical support
