Learning Sciences Research Based Design Edtech Product Certification Application
Key Method
The product team guides product design and development using a theoretical framework grounded in high quality, rigorous research about learning, particularly as learning relates to content area, cognition, social emotional learning, and diverse learner backgrounds.

Method Components
--What is Learning Sciences Research?
Learning Sciences, an interdisciplinary, research-based field, “advances understanding of the
learning process and the design of innovative learning environments.”
Learning Sciences Research focuses on understanding how people learn, how to design and
implement learning innovations, and how to improve instructional methodologies.

--What is a rigorous study?
Studies have applied appropriate data collection and analysis methodologies,
sampling strategies, and comparison groups when relevant.
The study has either been peer-reviewed or the study was driven by the voices of those most
impacted by the research from conception through co-interpretation of findings.
There is a clear and logical link between the study’s focus, its findings, and the product.

--Examples of a theoretical framework grounded in Learning Sciences Research
A logic model demonstrating the link between research findings and the product’s theory of
A conceptual framework citing Learning Sciences Research that has a clear and logical
connection to the product.
