Hundreds of U of T students have responded to calls to action and provided input regarding the mental health crisis at the University since a third recent on-campus suicide occurred on March 17th, 2019.

Since then, the various consultations and waves of feedback given have resulted in a 20+ page statement which highlights key context, common student experiences, and students' present demands as well as recommendations. Since March 17th, President Meric S. Gertler and Vice-Provost, Students Sandy Welsh have a) said that they're willing to meet with students, b) created a Task Force after no known consultations of students, and c) abruptly cancelled and then later agreed to reschedule a meeting with students to Wednesday, April 10th.

It's clear that our work here is far from done, and that we need to keep raising awareness surrounding the mental health crisis on campus. We also need to keep working to demonstrate to our administration as well as other potential allies that students stand united on this issue, and that it warrants immediate and cooperative action.
