Initial Forum Entry: Madness + Liberation
After careful consideration of initial community input, I have decided to try out a pilot version of the forum on Proboards with a small number of participants. The goal will be to see how a small number of us engage for a few weeks in order to identify potential moderators as well as begin to create community guidelines + norms. Once a chunk of moderators have volunteered + been trained, a new wave of participants will be admitted to the forum + we will discuss whether Proboards is a sustainable long-term host.

I understand that this form is long + exhaustive. I hope you can understand that the specificity + length of this form are for the sake of building an intentional space + being clear about shared goals, values, + expectations.  I have never found a safe place to do this intellectual work, so I am trying to build one myself.

The form does not contain any photos, captioned or uncaptioned. It is organized into 6 sections: Our Most Important Principle, What is the Forum For?, Challenges You May Encounter, Understanding the Moderation Structure, Understanding Proboards, and Feedback Request. The text included is lengthy, but I have tried to make it as compact + comprehensible as possible. The formatting when taking the quiz is odd + off-putting, but I cannot get Google Forms to cooperate enough to fix it.

In order to join the forum, you will need to agree to each question on the quiz (you may add caveats in the Other option, which I will consider). You will need to provide an email address, to which I will send an invite link to create a Proboards account. As of now (7/10/23), I intend to only let in around 15-20 participants, in order to see how everyone interacts + locate moderators.

Please tell me about yourself + what you are hoping to accomplish through the forum. You may share anything you are comfortable with (it will not be shared with anyone except myself + possibly my wife, who is training the moderators).
