Expansive STEM education Course 2:  CS and AI toward Justice, Sovereignty, and Equity-- Registration Form

This is the registration form for Course 2: Ethical AI Education, which is the second professional learning offering in a series entitled "Expansive STEM education: The edges of our disciplines meet the edges of our social possibilities."

This course is FREE for participants. All educators will receive a certificate of completion documenting 15 hours of learning and educators in the states of MI, WA state, and IL can earn up to 15 continuing education/clock hours (but educators from all states are welcome!).

These days, you can’t go a single day without hearing something new about AI. In this course, you’ll engage with other educators, STEM faculty, and learning scientists about the social and ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning on the natural and designed world. We will explore what AI is, what it is not, how Indigenous communities are practicing data sovereignty through language revitalization, and how AI is linked to environmental impacts, imperialism, and settler colonialism. Finally, you will have the opportunity to use some common AI tools and explore how to connect to your learning environments. Please note that although this course is designed with K-12 classroom educators in mind, we recognize the potential value for those involved in education in a much broader sense (such as teacher educators, providers of community-based programs, and industry professionals). All educators are welcome, but please note that this course is designed for those who are just beginning to explore AI and its implications for education. We welcome you to join us!

Format: online (held via zoom)

Dates and Times: July 31-August 2, 9am-1pm Pacific Time each day

This course will require computer use. You will need a browser with internet connection and a keyboard.
