Learning Circle- This political education learning circle comes together kind of like a book club. We pick topics to dive into each month and then read articles, listen to podcasts, webinars, etc and debrief together about what we learned and how to apply it to our collective work. This team is currently reading The Black AntiFascist Tradition. Meeting monthly on the third Thursday.
Federal Strategy- The Federal Team works to combat the dangers associated with the fossil fuel industry. We make connections and share resources that empower regular people to lead local campaigns and elevate those campaigns into the federal regulatory and lawmaking landscape. Our network holds state and federal-level officials accountable to the needs of our communities. This team is currently strategizing to stop data center development and associated extractive supply chains. They meet every other Wednesday afternoon.
Resilient Communities- On this team folks share what they’re learning through this disaster and recovery, including data and mapping especially around how mining impacted or exacerbated the flooding, how the relationship between ecological disasters like this and extraction weigh on our broader work, and how communities are taking care of each other both inside and out of institutions. This team has planned two regional mutual aid convenings and continue to organize in follow up. They meet every other Tuesday afternoon.
