Processing Timeline
Preservation Utah staff will review your initial request for alteration after receiving all required documentation. For minor alterations, staff can approve internally. For larger and/or complicated alteration requests, the project must go before the Historic Properties Committee. The committee meets monthly. To ensure your case is presented, we recommend submitting your application at least 2 weeks before the next committee meeting. If the alteration is approved, you'll receive a letter for your records noting the approval of work. If the committee has questions or recommendations, your proposal may be delayed. Denials of projects happen when the proposed alteration conflicts with the easement language on the property, the project does not follow the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for Rehabilitation, and/or the project threatens the historic integrity of the property.
