The Beginnings of the Dare County Tourism Bureau & The Pirate Jamboree Presented by Tama Creef, Archivist, Outer Banks History Center

What do you do to attract people to the beach in the off-season? Turn them into pirates of course! Learn how the Dare County Tourist Bureau created an event that included the entire Outer Banks in a week of costume contests, cook-outs, and fun-filled mayhem.

Tama Creef is an archivist at the Outer Banks History Center, where she has worked for the past 15 years. She is a generalist in the topic of local history of the Outer Banks. Tama and her husband live with their dog, Pretty Girl, who enjoys living on Roanoke Island and chasing squirrels.
