ACTE Work-Based Learning Conference Presentation Submission
Thank you for your interest in presenting at the 2020 ACTE’s National Work-Based Learning Conference. This special event, co-hosted by, Iowa Work-Based Learning Organization, and the Association for Career and Technical Education® (ACTE®), is the first national work-based learning conference focused on supporting the delivery of quality experiences that foster in-depth, firsthand engagement with the tasks required in a given career field. The conference will be held April 22-23, 2020, at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny, Iowa, at the Des Moines Area Community College. The ACTE CTE High-quality Framework is made up of 12 elements. One of the elements is work-based learning which covers 9 criteria (listed below). Each submission must indicate which work-based learning criteria the presentation addresses (mark all that apply).

• A full continuum of work-based learning experiences, progressing in intensity, is accessible to every student at some point during the program of study.
• Work-based learning experiences are intentionally aligned with each student’s education and career goals.
• Work-based learning experiences are aligned with relevant national, state and/or local standards.
• Work-based learning experiences develop and reinforce relevant technical, academic and employability knowledge and skills.
• Work-based learning experiences are supervised by CTE staff with clearly defined roles.
• Work-based learning experiences are provided through delivery methods that maximize meaningful interaction with business professionals.
• Requirements and procedures in place that address: (1) access, (2) selection, (3) liability, (4) supervision, (5) rights & responsibilities, (6) safety, (7) transportation, (8) learning objectives, and (9) evaluations.
• Work-based learning experiences comply with relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations.
• Students engage in reflection and document learning resulting experiences, such as through a portfolio or presentation.

The deadline to submit a proposal is 5:00 p.m. CT, Friday, January 17, 2020.

The person submitting a proposal is the primary contact and is responsible for notifying all other participants of acceptance, rejection, scheduling and any other information provided by ACTE. All speakers are required to register for the conference and pay their own expenses (e.g. travel, lodging, etc.). Speakers will be offered a discount of $50 off the registration rate.

The following information may assist you in completing the proposal:
• The presentation description should explain the topic and the format being used in the presentation, as well as the benefit of this presentation to attendees. This description will be used in the conference brochure/program.
• The abstract provides a brief summary of the presentation/session.
• Within the ACTE CTE High-quality Framework, identify which work-based learning criteria that the presentation/session aligns with.
• Focus audience enables you to identify what audience the presentation is most appropriate.

Each proposal will be evaluated by a panel of reviewers and final decisions about the program in early February. Submitters will be notified about the status of their proposals via email by Friday, February 14.
