On behalf of the Southeast Asian Student Organizations at UCLA (Association of Hmong Students, United Khmer Students, Thai Student Association, Burmese Student Association, Singapore Students' Association, Malaysian Association of Students, Association of Indonesian Americans, and the Vietnamese Student Union), we cordially invite you to participate in the 15th Annual Southeast Asian Admit Weekend! What is SEA Admit Weekend?
Southeast Asian (SEA) Admit Weekend is a one-day, fully in-person program with an online option that enables newly admitted students to build a community in college despite the virtual climate and learn more about the many academic, professional, and social opportunities the university has to offer. Through a mentorship program, interactive tours, workshops, and alumni panels, admitted students will explore the UCLA campus and receive guidance about how to navigate through college life. This once-in-a-life-time opportunity provides students a better understanding of the bigger community awaiting for them at UCLA. As an opportunity for students to explore UCLA before the SIR date, this program does not equate to committing to the school! We hope to inspire future generations of Southeast Asian admitted students to become empowered, learn about the rich history and culture relevant to their identity, be aware of the resources available to them at UCLA, and find a safe and supportive community. Why apply?
This program is created for admitted students like yourself to learn more about UCLA, interact with current and other newly admitted students through the mentorship program, and engage with alumni through an alumni panel. In addition, this is an opportunity for all admitted students, not just those who are certain to commit to UCLA, who are interested in learning about the Southeast Asian (SEA) community, higher education, and student engagement. You will also get the chance to attend a series of virtual workshops exploring Southeast Asian (SEA) identity, financial resources, and how to navigate higher education. These events will enable you to form new connections and familiarize yourself with resources available to Southeast Asian students here at UCLA. Our goal is to foster a welcoming, cohesive, and educated environment to better ourselves, our families, and our community. We hope you will find the weekend to be a comfortable and educational experience as you develop yourself and hopefully become an ally of our mission!Who can apply?
