Last year, chefs from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Mexico and the Democratic Republic of Congo took turns participating in Sanctuary Kitchen events. For Hands-on Cooking Classes, chefs taught 12-15 guests how to prepare traditional dishes. At Supper Clubs, chefs prepared dinner for 15-20 guests hosted by community members. During both kinds of events, guests, cooks and interpreters sat together to share food and conversation.
The time commitment is flexible; we give turns to participating chefs based on his/her availability, the events scheduled and cuisine requested. Proceeds from events go to supporting chefs and our programs.
There is a limited number of spots available to join our program in 2018-2019. Please complete and submit this application and our Team will be in touch.
For questions, or if you’d prefer to have a phone interview with the help of an interpreter, please email: SanctuaryKitchen@cityseed.org, with subject line: “New Chefs Application”.
