Chv STEM - Registration 2021!! Here we go...
Welcome to the Cheverly STEM Education Center! Just coming off a global pandemic that sent us all online, we are ready to launch a Grand Re-Opening to our fun and fabulous in-person classes, as well as to allow for some hybrid options for a few math classes. We've had to make some changes, reduce the number of students on campus, increase cleaning procedures. Our classes this year will focus on math and science, as well as fitness and movement - a great way to rebound and get back into the swing of group learning.

Due to COVID class size is limited to 12 students. We will run a waitlist in the hopes that class size restrictions will be lifted this fall. Our ideal is 15-18 students/class.

As always our mission is two-fold, (1) to provide courses not typically available to homeschoolers, and (2) support a unique and diverse community of learners. Although we are not a school, classes at Cheverly STEM are student-centered and project-based, as well as academically rigorous and taught by education specialists or professionals in their field.

Now in our eighth year, we are thrilled to be offering new and exciting classes like biomechanics, organic/biochemistry, physics, algebra II/trig, dance (think cool modern and hip line dances), as well as standard favorites like matter & molecules, engineering, algebra and biology. Many of our core high school classes, (biology, chemistry, algebra I and II), will meet two days/week, on both Tue and Thur.

Our academic calendar runs September through May, divided into four 7-week quarters, (fall I, fall II, winter and spring). Our classes meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 am - 3 pm with a full hour for lunch, noon-1:00. Many of our classes are cumulative in nature making them difficult to join mid-year. For these classes it is best to consider taking it for the full-year. Teacher bios and more detailed course descriptions are available on our newly updated (and still developing) website CheverlySTEM.com.

Parent Volunteers
As we've grown over the years, we come to realize that we need a little more help. This year we are asking each family to volunteer 1.5 hours each semester. Many hands make the load light and this little bit of parent help each day will off-set the need to hire more staff and helps us keep our fees low. The volunteer sign-up form will be available at the end of the summer as a link on our website.

There are two parent help categories this year
1. Lunch Monitor - assists monitoring students during our lunch hour and helps to clean up at the end
2. Afternoon Clean-Up Crew - helps wipe down rooms, remove trash, and get ready for the next day

We are sure that we'll have new cleaning procedures and processes in place when we re-open this fall - we will be reassessing the situation as we near the opening day.

We appreciate all of the help and support of our parents and families!
