Traveller Apprenticeship Programme is aimed at supporting Travellers to access Apprenticeships. The Irish Traveller Movement has funding for 60 bursaries for travellers who start an apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship course. There is also funding available if you are currently in an apprenticeship. The three categories are:
- 20 new Traveller apprentices - if you have got on an apprenticeship in 2023
- 20 existing Traveller apprentices - If you have already started an apprenticeship
- 20 Traveller pre-apprentice - If you enroll in a pre apprenticeship course in 2023
The bursaries are for a maximum of €3,000 to support your costs to attend the apprenticeship programme and can be used to cover costs such as equipment, tools, IT equipment, transport, etc.
Apprenticeships are a great way to learn skills and get a career. They involve a combination of classroom learning with work-based learning in a company. You will receive a salary while they learn for the duration of their apprenticeship.

There are some websites that advertise employers who are looking for apprentices such as apprenticeship.ie and Indeed.ie where you can search for apprenticeships in your area. From our experience you will need to be proactive and speak to employers to try to arrange an apprenticeship.
