Maine Climate Action Now's Climate Justice Crash Course. This training is an introduction to climate justice through an intersectional lens, highlighting one of the topics in the Crash Course and a Maine-specific example, and incorporating a group activity to help engage with these complex ideas.
We ask that you look through the Crash Course resource before requesting a training.
We are happy to present to organizations, clubs, community groups, faith groups, businesses, schools, classes, boards/leadership teams, or a group of individuals.
A bit more about intersectionality and our philosophy:
Climate sits at the confluence of many different justice struggles, as the Climate Justice Crash Course endeavors to demonstrate. Too often in mainstream media and political discourse, climate change is framed as an environmental issue, a liberal issue, or a white middle class issue. This guide emphasizes the intersectionality of climate to help us understand how myriad systems of injustice are intertwined with climate change. To truly tackle the climate crisis requires a comprehensive approach that recognizes the shared root causes of injustice. This calls us into solidarity, following the leadership of those impacted by injustices, and breaking down artificial walls between "issues."
