River Talk: Septic 101—The "Quick and Dirty" Facts to Understand Your System
Join the Musconetcong Watershed Association for our next in-person River Talk, which will take place on Tuesday, August 22, 7:00 - 8:30p.m. at our River Resource Center, located at 10 Maple Ave., Asbury, NJ 08802.

Many of the homes in the Musconetcong River Watershed have septic systems, yet they're not always well understood by homeowners.  This can lead to problems down the road, so save time, money, and lots of headaches by coming out to learn:
-What exactly a septic system is;
-Dos and Don'ts of water usage and what not to flush down there;
-Tips for managing your septic system and the land around your tank; and
-How to troubleshoot basic problems that may arise.

This River Talk will be paired with our September Watershed Allies Training (Saturday, 9/9, 10am - 12pm), which will be a more hands-on (literally, but not too literally) workshop.  While you're certainly welcome to attend just one, by joining for both, you'll have the chance to develop knowledge and skills that will allow you to better take care of your home.

About the Speaker:
Chuck Gullage is longtime associate of the MWA, having been a volunteer River Watcher, trustee, and manager for the MWA's Asbury Mill Restoration initiative.  He served in the US Coast Guard where he received training in marine environmental protection, which later helped him in investigating hazardous spills in the Musconetcong River Watershed.  Chuck also spent time working for AT&T and Lucent Technologies but, since retiring, he uses his FAA drone pilot license to provide aerial photography services for the New Jersey Highlands Coalition and the Nature Conservancy.  He volunteers at the Twin Lights in Highlands, New Jersey and is also a long time member of the Canal Society of New Jersey.

Parking for this in-person River Talk is available at our River Resource Center, located at 10 Maple Ave., Asbury, NJ 08802, as well as across the street at our historic Asbury Mill, located at 476 Old Main St., Asbury, NJ 08802.  Space is limited for this event, so registration is required.  Please only register one person at a time.
