How can we grow with you? Do you have access to land/property and capacity to plant at least one tree for Black Forest (BF)? Maybe we’re giving away trees, and you can pick them up, or need help from a volunteer? Maybe you can plant them or need a volunteer? Maybe you have trees, can plant them, and need BF tree tags? Whatever your case, we’re looking for people interested in planting trees in or around land or property they or their community have access to.
Please share information about yourself, the property, your capabilities, and your resources so we can expand our capacity through mutual aid. You can edit answers after submitting them and skip any questions that aren't applicable or relevant for the land or property. If you have any questions, email us at trees@black-forest.us.
BF is a participatory art and community forestry initiative breathing new life into Black communities through planting trees for Black lives: past, present, and future. Founded at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter movement, BF is a poetic response to the calls of justice for racial and environmental disparities in the US and their fatalities. Starting in 2022 we’ve developed partnerships with governments, organizations, and communities to plant over 600 trees in parks, gardens, lawns, and sidewalks across 9 cities in 8 states. BF tree tags include a phone number for the BF story-line which will link trees with seasonally curated streams of eco-poetry and crowdsourced oral history which express lived experiences of Black communities in nature.
