Research or Evidence Informed (program or practice): A strategy that developed based on empirical evidence or incorporates the lessons learned from the existing research literature, but may not have been evaluated.
Promising Practice (or program): A strategy that has demonstrated some successful results, but there is not enough evidence to support generalizable conclusions.
Best Practice: A strategy that has been found through research or experience as the "best" way to achieve desired outcomes.
Evidence Supported Practice (or program): A program that has demonstrated positive outcomes in a limited number of research studies or in studies that use quasi- experimental designs; it has a strong body of research support it, but is not generalizable.
Evidence Based Practice: A program that has been rigorously evaluated, the evaluation has shown that the program produces the expected positive results, and the results can be attributed to the program itself.
