We, the undersigned residents and property owners in the city of Rochester, express our deep concern and frustration regarding the recent property reassessments. The lack of fairness, transparency, and clarity surrounding the methodologies used to determine the new reassessment rate has left many residents bewildered and dissatisfied. We believe in the importance of fair and equitable property reassessments that accurately reflect the
TRUE market value of our homes. However, the current process has raised numerous questions, concerns, and uncertainties among the community members. We are seeking immediate
clarification on the factors, data, and criteria used to arrive at the new reassessment rates. We, the undersigned residents and property owners in the city of Rochester, hereby express our collective demand for a fair, transparent, and community-inclusive property reassessment process in the city of Rochester. We believe that these changes are essential to ensure the well-being and confidence of the residents in our city government.
We, the undersigned residents and property owners in the city of Rochester, hereby demand that this unfair reassessment be paused for a minimum of two years.(PAUSE) This way the aforementioned request and issues will have enough time to have them addressed and answered in an in-depth and proper manner.
New York State does not mandate or Require municipalities to
do Property Reassessment! However they do require them to be fair and at a
uniformed percentage rate! We further submit that because the city Assessor has
based this years Reassessment on the past 4 years as market value! We Do not
believe that these past four years accurately reflects true market value.
Market value is based on what a person will pay for a property under normal
conditions. Therefore we Further submit that these past four years have been in
no way normal conditions for not just our local community but the nation and
the world. Covid has significantly and profoundly affected our local real
estate market! Therefore we further demand that the this Reassessment be Paused for a minimum of 2 years!
