Pittsburgh Chinese School Fall 2017 Online Registration

Please read this information carefully.

(1) Fall 2017 semester starts on 9/10.
(2) Fall semester only: We encourage parents register your child(ren) for the entire school year. There are two semesters per school year. You will still pay the tuition once every semester.
(3) After you submit this registration form online, you must submit a check to the Registrar. Please write one check per family (pay to PCSEFI). Please write the students’ names on the check.
(4) On or Before 8/1: $196.5 per student; plus $20 parent guard service deposit per family unless you fulfilled the duty in the previous semester. Each family shall fulfill 3 hours of service duty each semester, except if you are teacher, staff, assistants, school board member, or enrolled in the adult class.
(5) After 8/1: $216.5 per student; plus $20 parent guard service deposit per family if you have not done the duty in the previous semester.
(6) Some language classes require additional book fee (paid once per school year, usually in Fall). Some culture classes require additional material/costume clean fees (paid once every semester). Please see the class list below.
(8) If you just register for the culture class without any language class, the total tuition is $80.

New Culture Classes: Youth Chorus, Youth Vocal Music, Chinese Chess, Adult Chorus, and Adult Vocal Music.

    Parents Service Requirements

    * The school board has decided that each family shall fulfill the parent guard duties once every semester. Parents are encouraged to complete more times to earn the extra rewards. The rewards can be used to earn discounts and/or snacks/beverage, etc. The school board will determine the rewards details. * If you fulfilled the parent guard duties in the last semester, you do not need to pay the deposit again. Otherwise, you will need to pay another $20 service deposit fee. The deposit will be refunded to you when your family exits the school. You only need to pay the deposit for every semester that you did not complete the duty. This duty requirement does not apply to the school staff, board members, and the adult class students. * Please see and School Guidance for the parents service details.

    Registration Policies

    Please read them carefully, since the rules have changed. • The student can have options to either register for a semester or register the entire school year in the Fall semester. In the latter case, the late fee can be avoided for the Spring semester. The student still pays tuition separately for each semester. • There will be three tracks for the language classes, regular (JiNan University one book per year), fast (JiNan University two books per year), and MaLiPing (MaLiPing one book per year). The fast track is only available for the grade 1, 2,3, and 6 in the 2017 Fall semester. There are also Intermediate 1,2 and advance 1,2,3 classes offered as the new language classes. Please see the class list below for details. • When a student registers a language class, he/she shall only select from the class list. The specific class and teacher information will not be published before the semester starts. This allows the school to allocate resources based on the actual students registration. • During the first two weeks of trial out period, the student must acquire a Class Admission (with a tryout mark) permission from the registration office. • In order to change a class, either a different grade or a different classroom in the same grade, the student shall submit an online or a paper class change request. The student must acquire a Class Admission permission from the registration office to be allowed to sit in the class room. • The teacher will not allow any students, who is not in the list published by the registration office prior to the class, to sit in the classroom without such a Class Admission document. This applies to both the tryout period and any the regular school weeks. • The student must receive the Principal’s approval to skip a level for the language class or to attend a fast track language class. • The student cannot change the class in the middle of the semester after the tryout period. Any exception must be approved by the Principal.

    Agreement

    By clicking the submit button, I, as the parent/guardian of the above named student(s), hereby state that I have read these documents published on the PCS web site Registration page. I have read the (1) Parents Rule (2) General Guidelines for PCS Parent Guards and agreed to commit (1:50 PM-5:10PM) once per semester per family to fulfill the parent guard services. Otherwise, my $20 deposit will not be refunded. I also have read and agreed to (3) Accident Liability Waiver Agreement, (5) Enrollment Policies, and (6) Registration Process. After submit the form online, remember to submit the check to the Registrar. Please write one check per family (pay to PCSEFI). And please also write all students’ names on the check.
