This presentation focuses on how 5 writing tips (think: revision) can transform any level of writing. We look at the craft of writing, particularly idea development, word choice, and sentence construction so that a so-so piece of writing becomes spectacular! Using current curriculum and/or existing assignments, we’ll learn how to help students express themselves with fiction and nonfiction. With short texts—poetry, picture books, newspaper clippings, and blogs, we’ll explore how to imitate form, sentence structure, and other noteworthy features of good writing. We will also look at how authors intentionally use words to impact their readers. You’ll leave this workshop excited to implement these strategies with your students.
