Impact of Social Media on Political Views
The goal of this survey is to determine an answer to the question: How does the usage of different social media platforms impact the political and global views of young people? Please complete all sections of the survey, though if you truly desire to leave a section blank you may. The identities of each individual in the study is kept confidential. Names will not be taken in the study, and there will be no way to identify the names of those who did or did not participate. 

1.      Your interview responses, along with the responses of other interviewees, will be used to help me complete a research study that will provide information about social media and its impact on young people.   Also, your responses will help provide information regarding social media and the development of political views in young people.  Some of the questions may be repetitive in order to establish context for upcoming questions or to ensure consistent responses. 

 

2.       The interviewer and researcher, Bozman, is an Advanced Placement (AP) Research student enrolled in the AP Capstone program.

 

3.       Your participation in this survey or interview is completely voluntary.  You may choose to stop the survey or interview at any time if you feel uncomfortable, and there will be no penalty whatsoever for choosing to do so.  You may choose to skip any questions you do not want to answer; however, it would be helpful for you to answer as many questions as you are able and willing to answer.

 

4.       All responses are confidential.  Your identity is only known to me, and no information directly associating your name with your responses will be reported to anyone.  If specific information from your survey or interview that pertains to you individually is used in the report of findings, I will make sure to identify each person by using a pseudonym or a randomly selected number when analyzing and reporting on my findings.  Typically, findings are reported in group form, so no individual is identifiable.

 

5.       There are no direct benefits to you anticipated from your participation; however, the information you provide will potentially benefit knowledge and research about the impact of social media on young people.  We believe there are no known risks associated with this study. There may be uncommon or previously unforeseen risks. You should report any problems to the researcher.

 

6.     The data collected from this interview will be destroyed upon the publication of the researcher’s academic paper.

 

7.     A discussion of findings from this study will be available to all participants after April 15 and can be accessed on the college board website/webpage of researcher.  If interested, please seek information pertaining to results of the study from this site.
