According to a recent article in Christianity today, a child with autism is almost twice as likely to never attend a religious service of any kind than a typical child. These families with some of the greatest needs can easily feel that church is yet another place that their child does not "fit." By examining scripture and understanding God's heart for those with disabilities, the body of Christ can be mobilized to wholeheartedly model inclusion and care. Launching a ministry for families that have children with special needs requires a unique strategy. In this practical session, we will discuss various approaches, training for volunteers, practical guidelines, as well as sharing tools and logistics to successfully implement a ministry in your church.
