UPDATE: Due to current financial constraints and funding uncertainties, we had to make the difficult decision to pause the Green Teens program until the end of August 2025. This means that we will not be hosting Spring 2025 or Summer 2025 sessions of the program this year. We hope to return to regular programming in the Fall.
The Green Teens is a workforce development program offered by Friends of the Urban Forest, a non-profit organization that plants and cares for trees in San Francisco's urban environment. The program serves San Francisco youth (16 - 19 years old) who attend high school/GED programs in the city, providing paid (starting at $18.93/hour) job skills training and mentorship to those interested in working with trees and navigating a career in arboriculture or the environmental field.
Participants in the program learn how to plant trees, conduct tree care, participate in professional development workshops, and connect with the outdoors.
