Expectations and Safety Guidelines:
Please abide by the speed limit of 5 mph and park in designated areas.
Please do not bring pets or children that will not be volunteering.
Please do not pet or feed any horses that are not our therapy horses.
We do occasionally have the opportunity for volunteers to ride. The mission of our program and the funding we receive is focused on providing free horse therapy to riders with special needs, so they are the fist priority. When the opportunity arises where a volunteer can ride, we do offer the spot.
The most important thing during a session is the focus is on the rider. Please focus attention on the
rider having a pleasant experience and giving them encouragement.
Please turn off cell phones or leave them in the car. Our riders deserve our undivided
attention.
Volunteer Dress Code:
This is all about having fun outdoors and having a meaningful experience, so by all means dress
comfy. However, this is a program for families and children, so we want to look professional. No bare midriffs, low-cut tops, or see-through tops. T-shirts and pants are best.
Refrain from wearing dangly jewelry. Little hands like to grab it and it is just all around
dangerous at a barn.
Wear shoes that are comfortable to walk in. No open toed shoes or sandals! If you want to ride, you must
wear long pants and sturdy shoes (running shoes are fine).
All adult volunteers will have a background check performed in compliance with MEGAN’S LAW to protect
the safety of our riders.
Volunteers under 14 years old will need an adult to volunteer with them.
